Rest

I’m going to remember one thing about Parker Arizona. A swimming pool. Parker sits on the Colorado river. Eight days in the desert with careful water conservation ended when we crossed the bridge into town and I and a few of the older marchers took a break from tent life. Water is a gift that can be under appreciated when you grow up on a massive waterway like the Ohio, but when you walk through a desert where every drop you have, you carry, it becomes valuable beyond measure. We did not waste the water in Parker, but we had it to use. That pool at the Kofa motel gave my spirit a real lift and I am thankful to have had two afternoons to dip my body in its cold water and simply rest.
