Walking the Lincoln Highway

I walk along this old highway and feel the history of a nation and its passing. This part of Ohio is in a beautiful state of repose. There is much rust and decline but there also are deep roots and a sense that what may be missing is only momentary. The landscape and buildings show a certain stewardship… a stewardship that values the fundamentals.

You probably don’t need the camera to remember all you’ve seen but it sure is great for us to feel a little part of it reaching us. Beautiful work, unique perspective and interesting to see what folks have done along the way!

We’ve had men working on the cornices, replacing rotten wood for 4 weeks…we have to live here another 20 years now, ha! But according to them, this is the hottest day they’ve had up there. I hope you haven’t been having these unbearable days! Hope you’ve had cool breezes, smooth pathways and extra wide shoulders! That was sure a pretty bike path! I hope you got to take it for a while!

    All the best!
